In an escalatory strike, Israel Saturday bombed Iran’s South Pars Gas Field, the world’s largest gas field, leading to suspension of fuel production.

The drone strike is part of Israeli campaign targeting Iranian energy infrastructure.

Iran and Qatar share the gas field, with Iran controlling production in South Pars Gas Field, and Qatar controlling the North Dome Gas Field.

Saturday’s Israeli strike came after Iran’s deadly attacks on Tel Aviv and other Israeli places.

Israeli attack on Iran quickly impacts four key areas of world economy

As per Iranian Tasnim news agency reports, Israel struck 14 refineries of the Iranian section of Pars Gas Field which left one unit on fire.

Israel launched attacks on Iranian capital Tehran early Friday, setting off fears of a full-blown conflict in the oil-rich and strategic part of the Gulf region, where 20 percent of the world’s oil trade takes place through Hormuz waterway.

Iran is one of the largest producers of gas with around 275 billion cubic meters gas per year.

The Iranian gas output accounts for about 6.5% of the global production of the key fuel.
