Debutant Haris hits scintillating century to power Pakistan to clean sweep against Bangladesh

A debutant century by Muhammad Haris saw Pakistan achieve a clean sweep Bangladesd in the three-match T20 cricket series on Sunday.

Batsmen played an important role in Pakistan’s 7-wicket victory the hosts invited Bangladesh to bat first.

The tourist Openers Tanzeed Hasan and Pervez Hussain put up a brilliant stand of 110 runs in just 10.4 overs and it looked the side was on its way to amass a huge total.

But Pakistani bowlers struck back in the last seven overs and limited Bangladesh to 196 runs.

Hasan Ali took two wickets for 38 runs in four overs. Similarly, Abbas Afridi also got two players out for 26 runs in four overs. Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan got one wicket each.

Pakistan began the chase nervously when  in-form player Sahibzada Farhan fell victim to Mirza after scoring just one run.

However, Mohmmaed Haris came to support Saim Ayub and both of them quickly took the score to 100. Pakistan’s second loss came on the fifth ball of the tenth over when Saim Ayub was dismissed for 45 runs.

He played 29 balls. Four sixes and two fours were his specialty. Muhammad Haris was on 64 runs in the13the over and three players were out.

Rising to the occasion, Haris scored an incredible century, becoming the first Pakistani opener to score a century for Pakistan in a T20 International. He scored 107 runs in 46 balls.

In all Haris hit 7 sixes and 8 fours. Salman Agha was unbeaten on 15 when Pakistan scored 197 runs for 3 wickets in 17.2 overs to win the match.

Haris’s century in 45 balls was also the second fastest century for Pakistan after Hassan Nawaz’s 44 balls.

Mehdi Hassan Mirza became the successful bowler with 2 wickets for 26 runs.
